A little bit about how we work…
It is important to us to be able to be ourselves — our whole selves — at work. Sometimes that means taking time to talk about what’s going on with us, personally, or how we’re feeling about what’s going on in the world. And while we believe it’s crucial to show up professionally and accomplish our work — and not get bogged down with drama — we know that allowing the humanness of the whole thing in allows the creative, relational, and collaborative aspects of the work to flow and manifest fully.
Our work is not always linear or straightforward. We choose to embrace, and even delight in, the messy parts of the process — acknowledging openly when mistakes have been made, or when an idea we liked at first isn’t turning out the way we thought. Sometimes we have to abandon a course of action, even if we’ve invested a lot in it, and proceed in a way that feels right and true to the situation.
Within our team, the roles we hold can also change and shift in dynamic ways. We have learned that by focusing on people, rather than jobs, we can meet the needs of a given project in a way that allows every team member to offer their best gifts and talents in their work. So, instead of being accountable to a preconceived plan or static management structure, we are constantly listening to an evolving situation and are accountable to each other, the project at hand, and to our mission.
The Awake Network is an equal opportunity employer.
