Hello, I am Catherine It is difficult in families (extended, in-laws) to focus on the Good & Positive in our lives in order to grow our brains, when family members are set on being Negative, Fearful and Angry as this has been our upbringing. Trying to “change” and be happier, more compassionate and overall a healthier person to self and others, is often seen as “going against the family or culture”. Sometimes I feel “bad” for feeling “good” in my thoughts, brain and Mind, because so many of my family base their lives on living from too much stress, unnecessary anxiety, and being angry at everyone and everything. They think I have it “easy” or I don’t care about life because I am focusing on the small joy in the moment whether at home, in the car, at the market, etc.
If you have depression and co-occurring mental health concerns so that sometimes your self-care and self-love feels like more of a burden than a necessity, will it become more natural over time if you just continue to do it on a daily basis? Sometimes it just exhausts me to do it daily and feels more like a chore than anything else. I still do it, but I’d really like it to come more naturally someday. Looking forward to the Q&A, thank you in advance!
Hi,
Dr. Hanson, I would like to know what you think is the best way to meditate.
I like to listen to meditation tapes when I meditate but I don’t think it is helping me because I have a hard time remaining in the present when I turn off the meditation tape.
Thank you,
Con

Why is it so difficult to establish a consistent meditation practice? Is there a time of day that works best?

Why is it that self-care comes naturally to a few , and is so difficult for so many others?
