I love your note on taking life in its big picture. I struggle with hopes and desires, which many time leads to disappointment and unneeded pressure on others. And suffering.
Best ways to deal with this mind?
Thank you! Many helpful suggestions. How to deal with adolescent who pushes away help from adults in order to claim independence/autonomy in self-harming or isolating ways?

Thanks!!!

Hello Rick, thank you for the great conversation. My name is Abu Nasim and I am in NYC. My question is, when does self-care become narcissistic or egotistical? Also, love all the references to Buddhist psychology!!!
Is the goal of mindfulness to have simplicity of thoughts, patience to others and compassion to ourselves. If others do not participate are we in fear of isolation?
Hello Rick, thank you for the great conversation. My question is, when does self-care become narcissistic or egotistical?
How do you figure out what goals and values are right for you?
Wow! I could and need to listen to Dr. Hanson’s last comments on self care everyday!! Can I record it or will it be available later. Thank you so much for this opportunity. How can I donate to your network.
Thank you. Self care is so tough. I’m so caring to everyone. But self loathing to myself. Why? I try so much to be good to all. But not me. How do I get over this.
Having access to Dr. Rick Hanson’s great experience and his caring approach is a great gift!
I tuned in late unfortunately but I do have a question: how can I cope with my procrastination as I try to reach my aspirations?
Thank you so much.
BYW, great practice!
What is the difference between positive neuroplasticity that is bypassing and real resilience?

Hi from Sydney, Australia.
Hello! I’m Emily from Wisconsin. I teach Yoga and Mindfulness to k4-5th graders. I love listening to you talk, thank you for sharing!
I can’t hear anything…volume on computer and YT all the way up….
I am so sad that my sattellite internet reception only allowed seconds of the video at a time before having to load another few seconds.
Is there another way to access Dr. Hanson’s talk other than U Tube?
I wanted to find out the best way to promote calm and maintain a calm state for children, specifically between siblings when one tries to provoke another to respond through hitting.
Similarly for adults, when you practice mindfulness how to connect and remember to use mindfulness during stressful times with historical triggers, such as siblings fighting…
As Teacher of Mindfulness and Meditation for Adults and Children I am really enjoying your talks and meditations. Thank you!

Rick talks about what WORKS. I’m drawn to this. I’m high in the mountains in Oaxaca State, Mexico. No phones here, but luckily have internet.I’m interested in community rituals we may be able to develop to help deal realistically with the coming wave of fear that’s bound to happen as food and water become more scarce.
Thank you
looking forward thanks

Just thank you very much!
Hi,
I’m particularly interested in dealing with shame and how self compassion can help with that. I was in a coercive relationship for 15 years which I finally managed to leave 4 years ago but still find it’s legacy lingers with me in terms of low self esteem and anxiety. Any suggestions for moving on?
UK time making it impossible to participate live unfortunately.
I’ve heard that grandmother has embraced the bodhisattva way and that she now feeds both of those wolves inside her.
Your teaching only gets better. Thank you, very, very much!

Hello,I’m Norma. I had a very very happy marriage which ended with the death of my husband. I’m leading an active life but do not have an intimate partner. Do you think it’s possible to be without an intimate partner and happy? Many thanks.
I can not have the acess for call live. Haven´t start yet?
I need to learn how to activate the Pillar of Aspiration: how to move past and overcome my fears to fail.
Thank you so much for existing and inspiring my Life!
Hello, I am Julia from Romania, mother of three challenging boys: one is 4 years old, with profound hearing loss and recently an cochlear implant, working on recovering his hearing and speech abilities; one is 11 years old and he is a kinaesthetic duracel child, who opposes any limits and any rules just because he doesn’t want to respect them; the third is a 13 years old professional ballet dancer and student, studying abroad and living over there in a boarding house since 2 years ago. My question is..: how can one keep the balance between Self Caring and being there to hold space and support the other’s needs, when there seems to never be any more time or energy for self? Thank you!
Sadly, the times for the video in the UK make it difficult to join in. Will we be able to have a recording of the session?
I believe that I have reached a stage in my relationship with shame, anxiety and depression where self-compassion has helped significantly, but I need work with a psychotherapist to go deeper and have professional holding. Can you please address the relationship between self-care and it’s relationship and boundary with psychotherapy. How might one recognise the need to engage in work with a therapist before it becomes essential.
Bonsoir Dr Rick Hanson,
I did send a message earlier when I register for this online event, relating to the quality of “présence”.
Meditation teaches one to accept the reality as it is and who one is .
How can these 2 pillars of mindfulness can improve one’s quality of ” présence”?
How does this work in one’s brain?
Please continue to bring us your awareness and simple ways to explain scientific facts about our mind in order to make oneself healthier and mindful for the world.
Merci .
Good question!
How do I move out of doing things out of fear to being more balanced approach?
I had been in a very long relationship with a narcissist and my self-esteem and confidence have been affected. Any suggestions on how to rebuild them? Thank you so much Awake Network for the opportunity to listen to Dr Hanson. Debbie from UK.
How to overcome a relation with a narcissist is a subject I would like to learn more about it. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to contact. Unfortunately I leave in Europe and miss the film.
I wouldn’t be able to see the video because I live in Europe.
Do you have any recommendations ( in general or types of self care activities) for those of us prone to anger /harsh words and emotional meltdowns?! Thanks so much to Awake network and Dr. Hanson for this opportunity. Nga mihi from NZ
Hi I am Jackie and live in Australia, though I was born in England. I have PTSD since childhood I won’t comment on but I’m sure you will have a idea.
I have done meditation from our University for lower back pain, but I found that it opened different wounds but as I learned I felt more reassured there is a better way to try to stop and take note, I also have done a 8 week online course for Emotional Wellbeing, so you can see I do try but fall down every now and then.
I am looking forward to your video.
regards for giving me this opportunity to hear what is discussed.
Hello I am Arva here,Thanks so much for making this possible for us ,my Question to Dr. Hanson is that I have some irrational fears which I am aware that nothing would happen but still I get panic attacks when I think about the fearful situation , I want to know how I can overcome all those fears.
