Even here, in the new warmth as i am outside alounge in the front meadow with my dog who brings the frisbee and chases it: my body supine,, at rest , heart joyful, considering self relaxed and relieved. Then Pema signals Pause and by the mental busy-ness suddenly gone i notice it has been there. Suddenly i feel the dog, his personal energy in the rhythm of my grab and toss and his spin. Suddenly it is clear within, and tense in ways too. i notice that there are part- of me that have been involved in something else which now are back . The constant inner grind of anxiety is not there briefly which goes along with my demanding desire that the play have a certain result to benefit the pet. All that and everything else suddenly and completely blown away into not there. It’s absence is glorious tho.momentary, and going back to Pause SOM surprisingly easy.
Pausication…….Spacious……….abundant energy…….infinite and beyond…..transforming our stuckness,, our myopic focus……..to the awesome wonder of the aurora borealis……….streaming through…………our heartfelt vibrant white, green, and red presence against the obsidian sky!!!!
I found the presentation engaging.
It reminded me how close concentration is to relaxation.

When i find that the full course is closed,i can pause, and accept that it is always available…being enabled to question the truth behind my minds thinking, requires pause…dementia,is truly a gift!
Now,what was i thinking?
And,who is Pema?(who does she think ,she is?)
Pause and breathe. The idea is very elementary and simple but the need to be reminded goes with the pacce of today’s life styles.

Pausing helps me stay in the moment. Its made such a difference for me.I am more relaxed,no longer suffer from anxiety..Its a better life for me using pause.
I always love hearing you speak, Pena! Have your voice in my mind often. SHEN (as in nutcase) PA. Whenever I am stuck, I pause and flood my mind with compassion for me and for everyone else whose mind is unfriendly.
Deep gratitude! Profound respect.
One of the many gifts of Recovery is the gift of taking the moment to pause, and step back from reacting. And I have also felt that a lot of Recovery literature is based on Eastern Teachings. However when I started studying with Pema, it brought it home, and really made sense in everyday life. Thank you!

Pausing, adding that space into my awareness helps me respond instead of reacting. It’s really important with my inner and outer work. As a counselor sometimes I hear things that can be sort of stunning and breathing consciously, pausing helps me not take on things, it helps me be of more supportive to the client’s needs with presence. It also helps me stay centered.
AWARENESS IS MEDITATION
Remember one thing:
meditation means awareness.
Whatsoever is done with awareness is meditation.
Action is not the question,
but the quality that you bring to your action.
Walking can be a meditation if you walk alertly.
Sitting can be a meditation if you sit alertly.
Listening to the birds can be a meditation
if you listen with awareness.
Just listening to the inner noise of your mind
can be a meditation if you remain alert and watchful.
The whole point is:
one should not move in sleep.
Then whatsoever you do is meditation.

I sometimes “see” that my mind processes thoughts graphically horizontally….and, we have “mountains” of recorded horizontal thoughts “laid down and over and over”. When I choose to pause that system and choose to simply be aware that I’m aware I “see” again that this process is graphically vertical….reminding me that this phenomena is timeless, boundless, formless, and eternal in a vertical space that is always present and antithetical to my “ordinary waking state”. Lots of word symbols for something that may be experienced beyond the mind/ego and time.
Thank you so very much for the mention! One of our wonderful customers gifted the vibrating pause bracelet to you. Her name was Leila 🙂 meaningtopause.com

I have been trying to find a system ( a clock/ watch / an app – something to help me pause and Prema tells us about the Pause bracelet . I also read about the app by Clayton above. Could I have more information about this please? Thank you for the wisdom 🙏
Pause,
I often pause, stop in the middle of a movement an d briefly settle into myself. I take stalk. How am I in this moment? How is my flow, am I here… I just observe. It helps me stay connected to everything.
I use an app on my phone when I am home which rings a gong every 1 hour. What I do when it rings I practice a mindful STOP (similar to pause):
Stop just stop and pause
Take a deep breath and mindfully rest the mind back into the body
Observe what’s going on right now, notice any thoughts or feelings and bodily sensations
Proceed mindfully with awareness and kindness to yourself and others
I teach it also as a practice one can include during the day.

Much metta to you Clayton . Please let me know how I download this app . I have tried to find one in the past but without success. . I think it is so important to pause and get back to the present moment . Thank you. Geetha
The Pause is a gift to me, even when I’m attending a Code Blue as a clinical chaplain. Wherever I am at the moment I consciously consider pausing, I become mindfully aware of my need to break for a moment. This is helpful.
Thank you Pema for sharing your grace and wisdom. I love the way she boils it down to bite sized pieces that I can apply right now.
I love her so much!
It might help when I am having intrusive thoughts/flashbacks of abuse as a way to ground myself. I am going to try pausing 3 or more times a day whether I have intrusive thoughts or not – just to get into the habit of doing this.
Thank you,
Every time when i hear talking Pena Chödron i feel much better.
I feel ease and with more confidence in myself.
Thank you very much for sharing this vídeo.
I love Anila;
I have heard this ‘ Pause Practice”, many years ago from Ani Pema. I have underestimated how powerful this practice is.
First I put the sticker to remind me to do and I keep forgetting it after a few times the sticker becomes part of whatever I stick it in to! Changes to remember as one and willing to sop was another. Now I see this is the only way I can keep my mind garden free and clean of negative weeds. Meaning I need to do it all the time.
When feeling rushed and the anxiety build, pause. When feeling an emotion arrive pause, breath and smile. Appreciating this practice with heightening a sense awareness. Connecting us to spaciousness and timelessness. Thank-you for this practice.
We all need reminders so this is again another. . I love Pena’s sense of humour and exclusive ,gentle approach to her practice. It models a behaviour that is generally missing in our daily lives. Thank you all from Shambhala for making this so accessible. Susan (Ontario)

Thank you for access to your teachings, simple reminders and exercises to pause and allow and be present. With gratitude.
At the computer when you’re trying to figure out how to communicate something, is a good time for a “pause”.
Thank you Pema for the jewel of the PAUSE
Thank you Pema! You are an inspiration and a guide that brings joy and happiness into my life!

When I get frustrated with something I’m doing or want to be doing is a good time for me to allow myself the opportunity to pause.

So good to be reminded to pause and rest in the spaciousness of this moment. Very grateful for this teaching. Thank you.
The Dhamma can teach us if we pause and listen carefully. Omitting the pausing, the Dhamma goes unnoticed.
Thank you Pema!

Susan back , so sorry.
What a mess I made there. I just woke up and should have paused. I spelt Pena’s name wrong .I wrote exclusive instead of inclusive..
My apologies.
