[Video] Arielle Schwartz: The “Treasure” Hidden Inside a Dysregulated Nervous System

While the grounding and calming tools of nervous system regulation are important, it can be helpful to be reminded of the growth possible when we turn towards those very states we often try to “fix” — in ourselves or those we support.

In this short clip from a previous training, Arielle Schwartz, PhD, reframes the states we’re often quick to call “dysregulated” as something that may be serving a purpose — holding information, and “maybe even a treasure.” Met with curiosity and self-compassion rather than the urge to fix, those states can reveal something necessary for our healing.
