[Video] David Treleaven on Staying Regulated in Polarized Times

As we navigate these times of collective stress and polarization, practices that support trauma sensitivity and nervous system regulation can be such an important resource. That’s why I’m glad to share this short video from David Treleaven, PhD.

In this 5-minute video, Dr. Treleaven reflects on how pressure in the broader culture can narrow our collective window of tolerance, reducing our capacity for clarity, regulation, and complexity. He also shares a brief guided practice centered on curiosity, care, and survival responses, offering therapists a meaningful way to reflect on what it takes to stay human across difference.

On-Demand Workshop with David Treleaven, PhD!

We’re so glad to share this 90-minute workshop with David Treleaven, PhD — Widening the Window of Tolerance: Regulation, Resilience, and Working Across Difference

In this workshop, Dr. Treleaven invites clinicians to learn practical ways to help clients stay regulated and engaged in the face of overwhelm, while strengthening your own capacity to remain present, grounded, and effective in increasingly polarized times.

This experiential dialogue explores how widening the window of tolerance supports trauma healing by strengthening both client and clinician capacity for presence, regulation, and resilience. Participants will learn practical resourcing strategies to expand the nervous system’s capacity to stay engaged with intensity, uncertainty, and complexity in therapeutic work.

This workshop will help you:

  • Understand the window of tolerance and how expanding nervous system capacity supports trauma healing and effective clinical practice
  • Help clients build regulation and resilience by widening their window using practical, in-the-moment resourcing strategies
  • Recognize when clients move into overwhelm, reactivity, or shutdown, and respond in ways that support regulation and continued engagement
  • Learn practices to strengthen your own regulation and stability, so you can offer a steady, attuned presence when working with clients navigating trauma and uncertainty
  • Understand how your own regulation functions as a powerful clinical resource, helping clients stay engaged with intensity and complexity
  • Explore how a wider window of tolerance supports relational flexibility — including the capacity to remain present, curious, and non-reactive when working across difference in an increasingly complex and polarized world
